A small group of parents in Irvine California formed as we were concerned about the ubiquitous use of pesticides and how that impacted our children’s health. We worked with our advisors and elected officials to have the City of Irvine adopt a historic organic-first landscaping policy in 2016, and Non Toxic Irvine (NTI) was born. NTI received an endorsement of support from Dr. Jane Goodall for our work.
In 2018, Non Toxic Neighborhoods was created to expand our efforts nationally to help cities and school districts transition to organic landscaping policies. NTN can help your school district and city too! NTN provides our proven and replicable methods, step by step Playbook and offers a NTN Toolkit so you can get started today!
We feel every child should be protected from exposure to harmful pesticides where they play! Especially since the exposure is happening for purely cosmetic reasons (weed control). The City of Irvine, Burbank, Carlsbad, North Miami, San Juan Capistrano, Tustin, and others have all demonstrated that you can have beautiful parks, athletic fields, and open space, that meet community expectations, without the use of harmful pesticides.
